From A to Ziing - An Inside Look with Ziing's Key Account Manager
Successful companies are built on the foundation of individuals with a deep passion and expertise in their industry.
Today, we’re sitting down with Andrew Baugh, Ziing’s Key Account Manager. Read on as Andrew takes the time to discuss Ziing's services and what differentiates us in a competitive market.
Brittany: Andrew, thanks for taking the time to speak with me. Can you explain the difference between dedicated services and distribution or co-load services? What are the benefits of each model?
Andrew: Of course. Dedicated service involves a single carrier or provider responsible for the entire shipment process, from origin to destination. The carrier will handle all aspects of the shipment, including pickup, transportation, and delivery. Distribution or co-load service involves multiple carriers or providers sharing the responsibilities.
The primary advantage of a dedicated service is that it offers greater control and visibility over the shipment, as one carrier is solely responsible for its handling. On the other hand, distribution or co-load service offers greater flexibility and cost-effectiveness, as multiple providers can share the costs.
Brittany: Interesting. How does Ziing determine which service will be used for a client?
Andrew: It depends on our client's needs and preferences. If they have a large shipment and require more control over the timing and handling of their cargo, we advise them that a dedicated service would be a better fit. We can also support the need for exclusivity, ensuring they’re the only brand on the truck. If they have a smaller shipment and want to save on costs, distribution or co-load service might be more suitable. Small businesses usually opt for distribution services because they’re tight on budget and want more flexibility.
Brittany: That makes sense. Ziing operates in a highly-competitive space, so what makes it different from competitors?
Andrew: It’s competitive, but I believe competition is healthy. Ziing prides itself on creative solutions, such as:
- Our efficiency assessments which provide personalized and customized solutions for each client. We work closely with them to understand their needs and preferences and tailor our services accordingly. Not many shipping companies are willing to do that because they still follow the same old one-size-fits-all model.
- Using the latest technology and tools to optimize our operations and ensure the fastest and most efficient delivery of our client's cargo. We discourage old-school methods that pull a company’s growth down.
- Our sustainability and ESG initiatives. We constantly design strategies and programs to ensure that our clients keep track of their carbon emissions and facilitate them in their journey to protect the planet. We’re currently testing EVs in Alberta, BC.
Brittany: That’s excellent! What attributes and values do clients seek when searching for a logistics provider?
Andrew: From my experience, clients are looking for a provider who is reliable, trustworthy, and responsive. Our clients look for a provider that cares about sustainability. They also want someone who will communicate clearly and promptly and go above and beyond to ensure their shipments' safe and timely delivery.
Brittany: That's very important. Can you explain how Ziing goes above and beyond industry standards?
Andrew: At Ziing, we believe in providing exceptional customer service and going the extra mile for our clients. For example, we offer customized packaging and crating solutions to ensure the safe transportation of even the most fragile items. We also provide real-time tracking and monitoring of our clients' shipments so they always know where their cargo is and when it will arrive. Our dedicated customer service team is available 24/7 to address concerns and provide support. We also have a national network that leverages local and community service partners to fulfill each delivery.
